The X-Stream range of manual switched, standalone intelligent and auto intelligent controls has been developed by Midtherm Engineering in conjunction with our specialist controls engineering company. The system is capable of operations as part of a wider BEMS (Building Energy Management System) via MODbus RTU open protocols or as a complete standalone natural ventilation and underfloor heating (UFH) controls system.
In designing X-Stream natural ventilation and heating controls we opted against using 'simple' proprietary LED traffic light style room control systems, in favour of more reliable LCD sensor readings that give exact measurements as well as visual readings for spatial temperature and C0² levels.
We believe that our population of diverse and environmentally conscious citizens have the ability to understand the concept of temperature and carbon dioxide, also the impact that these parameters have on today’s environment. Traffic lights do not give true accurate readings and are also discriminative against colour blindness.
The X-Stream control systems can be designed and installed to be basic or complex systems as determined by our clients’ requirements. This can be anything from a simple standalone wall switch operating system to a fully automated intelligent touch screen building energy control system, dependant upon clients’ budgetary requirements.
Control System Versions
There are three X-Stream intelligent controls system versions that can be adopted. These can be re-mastered to suit the requirements of each project as required (click to view system diagram):- 1.0 Standalone Basic Control System
- 2.0 Standalone Plus System with Optional Underfloor Heating or Windows Control (or both)
- 3.0 Modbus Open Protocols (with connection to popular BEMS systems)
System Controllers
There are currently four system controllers to suit our system product range:- MID2012 - Ventilation and underfloor heating room controller
- MID-HDH - Underfloor heating only controller
- MID-IMC - Web server monitoring temperature, alarms, CO² & weather
Zone Timers & Wiring Centres
We have four zone timers and wiring centre systems to complement our controls range:- MID-TRT038 - Standalone 1-3 zone summer cooling and boost override timer
- MID-TRT039 - Standalone 1-4 zone summer cooling and boost override timer
- MID2050-1 - Single actuator/fan wiring centre and power supply
- MID2050-6 - 1-6 actuator wiring centre and power supply unit
Sensors
There are six sensors types for use with our control systems:- MID-CO² - Room mounted Carbon Dioxide Sensor
- MID-SA10 - Standalone application heated rain sensor
- MID-WND20 - Standalone application wind speed & external temperature sensor
- MID-WS485 - MODbus weather station
- MID-WSB - Windsonic™ Digital 360° wind sensor
- MID-SWS - Small wind speed sensor with readings via milliamp signals
Relay Modules, Fan Speed Controllers & Switches
We have four relay modules and switches for use with our product range:- MID-RRM – Rain relay module (for use with MID2050-6 wiring centres)
- MID-FRM – Fan relay module (for use with MID2050-6 wiring centres)
- MID-FOS – Fireman’s override switch
- MID-SWA – Actuator override wall switch
