VentliteThe Windvent VL (formerly Ventlite X-Stream™) system is a combined commercial natural ventilation and lighting unit combining the Midtherm patented X-Stream™ dynamic louvre blade technology and proven Solatube day lighting technology. Windvent VL combines the ‘fresh air’ supply from our Windvent natural ventilation system with our world class-leading Litepipe to delivering natural light to internal rooms.

The ventilation part of the unit is an adapted Windvent that delivers a ‘fresh air’ supply to an office or workspace whilst simultaneously removing counter-productive CO² from the environment. The introduction of this ‘fresh air’ to a working environment has been proven to increase productivity and reduce staff sickness while the annual operational cost saving compared to a conventional air-conditioning system will astound you.

The day lighting section is a Litepipe which provides a constant daytime source of free, natural light comparable in its workings to traditional electrical lighting but without the drain on your electrical supply. Once again, the advantages over conventional systems are two-fold: employing a ‘natural light’ source has been proven to counter the effects of SAD while the cost savings when comparing a free, natural light source with electrical lighting are obvious.

Cost Savings

The system is powered primarily by aerodynamic forces and natural energy and so the only power required is to run the low voltage controller unit. This offers substantial costs savings compared to traditional mechanical ventilation and lighting systems that can potentially run into thousands of pounds each year.

Health Benefits

The Windvent VL system combines the health benefits of our Windvent and Litepipe systems. It combats common health problems associated with mechanical air conditioning units (by removing stale air and replacing it with a fresh supply rather than re-circulating stale air (and possibly germs) and also reduces office-related health issues like Seasonal Affected Disorder (SAD) associated with conventional lighting and indoor environments.

Suitable Applications

The Windvent VL system is suitable for many applications including schools, offices and hospitals. It is used in private, local authority and commercial premises including gymnasiums, colleges, universities, reception areas, store rooms, changing rooms, libraries, meeting halls and is suitable for specialist applications.

Intelligent Control System

The Windvent VL is controlled by a low voltage, control panel that monitors and adjusts intake and extraction ventilation rates accordingly. The units are capable of being linked to the buildings BMS to ensure dampers are fully closed in the event of a fire. The control system can be also be linked to room temperature and CO² sensors.

X-Stream Blade Design

Our Windvent VL naturally driven ventilation terminals employ a revolutionary patented blade design that has been optimised to provide the most efficient transfer of air through the roof terminal whilst providing resistance to external climatic conditions, resulting in a more dynamic and resilient natural ventilation system.

Terminal Design

External terminals can be designed in keeping with the architectural design and aesthetics of the buildings or can be manufactured to be of a contrasting appearance, adding a feature aspect to the building. Louvres are designed to ensure the maximum available free area of the unit is utilised, whilst maintaining weather integrity at all times.

Manufacture & Installation

Units can be installed on almost all roof types including flat, pitched and even on the roof apex where appropriate. All units are manufactured to BS EN ISO 9001 and are fully welded and constructed using corrosion resistant aluminium and fitted with internal acoustic material. Adjustable dampers and transfer grilles are manufactured from anodised aluminium or perforated stainless steel panels. The units may be powder coated to your specifications in any RAL colour of your choice. The ductwork for the units can pass through any floor level to transfer air and light within the building.
