Eurovent ECThe X-Stream EC unit is a boxed GRP natural ventilator with active stack capability. The unit consists of a passive stack terminal with the addition of a mains powered, integral fan to boost airflow velocity as necessary. The X-Stream EC uses the same technology as our existing Windvent passive terminal design whilst employing the latest in EC fan technology.

EC fan technology offers the benefit of extremely low running costs and the ethos of being proactive - as opposed to reactive - when it comes to comfort cooling and reliable air supply rates. This reliable fan control, combined with our X-Stream blade technology and boost facility ensures that our clients get the most ecological and cost saving benefits from our products as standard.

The EC fan units are controlled by room mounted sensors - every degree of temperature rise above the user's set comfort level will open the dampers and switch the EC fan to the set running level.

Other suppliers generally use on/off AC or DC fan units. These units are only activated at internal critical set point temperature levels meaning the installed fans have to work at full power consumption for prolonged period's and therefore guzzle precious electricity and ultimately translate to much higher building carbon emissions in the process.

Our EC fans only work for as long as they need to, with switching and running speeds to suit the internal environment. By not waiting until the internal temperature or CO² levels reach a critical set point before activating, the EC fans have to work less than on/off AC fan types (even when speed controlled) and user comfort and fresh air levels can be maintained at a comfortable level. On average up to a 60-70% cost saving can be maintained during the summer months compared to using a standard on/off AC fan with speed control for the same purpose.

Reliable & Economic

EC technology was first developed by our chosen manufacturer in 1965, 30 years before their competitors started marketing their EC products and 15 years before environmental protection even became an issue. In this time EC Technology has been improved, refined and extended into the universal, high technology and reliable product it is today. This development means our EC fans give you high performance, silent speed control and long life expectancy in a product which is the same size as the old, power hungry AC products it now replaces.

Advanced Features

EC fans feature stepless and infinitely variable fan speed control; fully integrated, mains input power supplies; compact motors making them fully interchangeable with AC products for retrofit and fully sealed electronics. As a result of the advanced integrated electronics, larger motors have full programmable networking capability for integration with BEMS systems.

Energy Saving

Our EC fans are more efficient, quieter and more reliable than any other natural ventilation EC product on the market. They give better performance at a lower whole life cost. Research suggests that switching to EC technology will reduce ventilation running carbon emissions by at least 30%.

Controls

The entire system is controlled via our Midtherm MID2012 master panel which is normally located within the space to be ventilated. The MID2012 panel gives the room occupant complete control of the Eurovent EC unit and even offers a natural ventilation purge capability as well as free night cooling.
