Windvents at OrbisOur Crossvent damper units are excellent whilst working in conjunction with passive stack ventilation terminals at roof level (minimises the amount of terminals required), or as part of a whole building cross ventilation strategy.

Crossvent units also work very well behind wall mounted radiators in the winter months to entrain warm 'Fresh' air into the building space in close conjunction with room mounted temperature sensors and common heating relays.

Windvents at OrbisThe damper actuators are accessible via the internal 15 degree 'quick clip' linear bar grille and access to the externals is not required. The damper ductwork is fitted with 'o' type acoustic insulation and a drop of 3-4db may be achieved in comparison to the db of openable windows.

The damper unit itself is fully sealed to the edges and on the blades at 98.7% closure, and comes fitted with a jack-shaft arrangement to ensure the unit is easily accessible for maintenance purposes. The actuator would normally be a 24v Siemens GDB type (our preferred choice) as we have installed hundreds of these actuators over the last 5 years with no reported problems.

Windvents at OrbisOur Crossvent units are bespoke CAD drawn and built to fit within the required building wall space, and are delivered as pre-assembled complete units. They can be installed either by Midtherm Engineering Ltd (a separate cost can be quoted) or just as easily by the building contractor themselves.

All that is visible to the naked eye would be the all-weather louvre (powder coated to your spec) and a 15 degree 'quick clip' linear bar grill (white as standard but can be any BS colour) internally.

The units are sized according to the ventilation rates required for each room/ building application and the air volume flow rates required.

The model below shows how Crossvent units are designed to be used as part of a wider Cross-Ventilation strategy within any building environment:-

X-Stream Interest at Ecobuild 2010
We recently attended the Ecobuild event at Earl’s Court to promote our Solabreeze X-Stream airflow terminal. There was great interest from many industry sectors during the event.
Burj Tower, Dubai

The X-Stream louvre blade technology is a new innovation following a 3 year study into the aerodynamic efficiency of louvre blade design.

The Solabreeze airflow terminal is a passive stack ventilation unit constructed for use with devices such as windows, internal wall air transfer grilles and external actuated wall mounted ventilators such as the Midtherm ‘Crossvent’ unit.

BSRIA benchmark testing confirmed that the new, precise blade pitch angle of the X-Stream achieves the highest airflow performance at the lowest resistance possible.
